Limestone Karst


Limestone karst area at Zwe-ga-bin, south of Hpa-an

Primary forest on the limestone hills

There are many caves on the margins
of the Shan Plateau

Limestone caves are excellent roosts for bats,
including horseshoe bats

Cave dimensions are measured
with a Disto laser measurer

Field sites are often accessed by boat

Some caves can only be approached with difficulty
