– Sponsorship and Grants –
The Organising Committee will try to raise sponsorship and grants to help cover costs relating to the Congress and to help, where possible, some students to attend.
However, we strongly recommend that all potential delegates look for their own sources of support. The current financial situation worldwide means that budgets have been cut drastically by many grant giving organisations. At best, it is certain that funds will be very limited.

The British Ornithologists’ Club has offered £500 GBP (approx. $750) to sponsor a student travelling to the IOCSEA, with an additional three years of free BOC membership. The following are eligible to apply:
1) All students who are currently enrolled at a university (proof of enrolment within the university for 2012 will be required).
2) Has a proven track record in practical and academic ornithology in SE Asia ideally based on field studies, projects undertaken, and publications.
3) Wishes to make a poster or oral presentation focused on avian taxonomy and/or distribution.
4) Has registered and submitted an acceptable Abstract in English through the conference webpage.
For consideration for this grant please register fully through the webpage, submit your abstract by the stated deadline and send to the chair of the scientific committee sebirdsconference@googlemail.com a short one page summary of:
- Why you would like to attend the conference
- What you have already contributed to ornithological study and research in SE Asia (add for instance your own publications and a letter of support from a renowned ornithologist supporting your application)
- Why you are unable to find any other support to participate in IOCSEA.
The deadline for this grant application is 1st May 2012. The grant will be selected by a committee of BOC representatives and the IOCSEA Scientific Committee based on the eligibility criteria as stated above.
Good luck!
